HumpDay

Well, the playdate was cancelled. The one little girl woke up sick today (she'll miss school too) so we'll do this another day. One of Cat's other friends came over and they've been playing all morning. I just finished cleaning up lunch dishes...soon we'll finish up getting ready for Catherine to go to school.

I started organizing the linen closet yesterday. I've already done 3 loads of laundry today. I need to finish folding the last basket, and run the vaccuum, and yeah, my house is still clean! :) LOL I'm really loving this!

DH just called, he wants to be slackers and skip church tonight and take the kids to the park tonight since it's an absolutly gorgeous day! It got down to 40degrees last night...Loving it!!!!

My Mom is coming

...to visit us in just 20 days! :) Yeah!!!! My main goal is to have the living room painted before then...it won't happen during any weekend because they're all full. So it will have to happen during the week somehow! I'm really getting excited to see her too. She hasn't been here in over 3 years. The girls are excited too! They love their Nana. (To be honest they love all their grandparents...it's great that they have all 4, I just wish they could see them more often! Right now they're lucky if they see each other once a year.)

We've got a play date here at the house tomorrow morning. I'll make banana bread & coffee for me and Jenn, hopefully all the kids won't destroy the girls room. I cleaned it up last week, and so far, every night we clean it back up and it's maintaining itself pretty good. My girls are getting better at keeping their room clean. They think it's a game, and really they enjoy being able to find what they want and having room to play with it. It's not so overwhelming to them anymore. I think it all has to do with having containers with lids, instead of just open tubs.

You know what I really want? A big chocolate milkshake. I really, really, really want one! There isn't any icecream here at the house, and I don't want to leave the house at 10:30 just to go get one either...I don't need to be eating one so late. I haven't had a milkshake in so long...I can't even remember the last time. Hmmm..... ...do you want one now? Yeah, I'm evil, I know it!

Weird Facts About Me

Wow, what a weekend!

Friday
  • Clean House
  • New babysitter for tonight
  • Surprise 40th Birthday part for a friend (stayed out way too late, time flies when you're having fun!) We roasted Tim pretty good! We all brought some great gag gifts! (We brought Balloons with a sympathy card, "Just for Him" hair color, Ben Gay, Lysol that eliminates "Old Man" odors, Prunes, baby food (altered label for the elderly), medicine (mini M&M's...each color for a certain symptom...blood pressure, aching bones, gas, diarrhea, constipation & the blue pill for "you know!") It was great!

Saturday
  • Apple Festival
  • Sew my Flapper Dress
  • Go to Murder Mystery Dinner (it was so much fun, my sides still hurt from laughing so hard)

Sunday
  • Church - Block party (carnival & picnic games)
  • Friends came over after dinner

and now for today....

Monday

  • Clean House
  • Get Catherine ready for school
  • Go to Library
  • Dentist Appt for me

Tuesday should be normal and calm...Wednesday morning we're having a play date here. The girls are excited about that.

I've been keeping the house really clean, and I love it! I hope I can keep it up! :) It feels so good to come home to a clean house, or to have it nice and clean when friends drop by unexpectedly.

I have lots of little projects to do though. My linen closet is in terrible condition. If my mother were to see it, she wouldn't believe that I could let it get that way! :) I need to take it one shelf at a time I guess! :)

I still need to paint the living room!

I am tired!

Monday may have been mellow...but the rest of this week has been so busy!
Until just now, I've only sat down once and for less than 30 minutes! If you saw the girls room and their closet now though, you'd understand! :) It looks amazing!

I hope my new system (toys in sterlite boxes w/lids in the closet) will keep the room cleaner (well, longer than what it takes them to mess it up now) :)

Do you realize that since Catherine started school the last week of August, she has not had a repeat in her wardrobe?!? This kid has way to many clothes! Oh yeah, my laundry is almost all cought up too! :)

I've still got to work on altering my dress for the MMDP Saturday night.

We've got to get a gag gift for our friend that's turning 40 (surprise party tomorrow night)

That's it for now...more stuff to do!

To be a Flapper...

...well for one night anyways! :) Why? For Halloween? No! For a Murder Mystery Dinner this Saturday evening.

Today I went scavaging thru isles and isles at our local Salvation Army Thrift store to create my one of a kind Flapper dress! :) If I had known about this earlier then I think I would have ordered one from online somewhere! :)

I've got a black dress, that I'll cut to the correct length, got a spool of black (w/shiny stuff) fun fur for the "fringe" look. I've got some mary janes...I'll make a head band (might need to find a feather...or I'll just do without it). I got home and realized the beads didn't make it home for the long necklace, so I've got to get that.

I hope it all turns out okay! :) I'll share pictures if it does! ;) Oh, I also got lots of black beads that I'll hand sew on so that the dress has some "shine" to it! :) This is going to be a lot of work!

Bobby's outfit is easy! I would love to find a hat for him though!

Mellow Monday

This weekend was busy! Saturday I picked Catherine up from her slumber party. Later that afternoon, I attended my friends Bridal Shower. It was fun!

I didn't take a picture of the wedding card that I made for the new couple, but here's what it said (I attached a pretty layered white flower with a brad onto a creamy white card)

The front:
Love is.....

The inside: (first letter in a different font for more emphasis)
F riendship closer than any other,
O pening your heart to your lover,
R omantic times together,
E verlasting pleasure,
V ulnerability beyond measure,
E ternal treasure,
R ejoicing in each other,

Love is ........forever!

Then, I put in a little letter that I wrote with a bit of advice (she's getting married young...just like I did).

Sunday we went to church, then over to friends for lunch and a relaxing afternoon of just hanging out, while the kids all played together.

Today I cleaned the house back up from the tornado that ran through here saturday (known as the kids and DH while I was out). I also did laundry. Well, started to anyways...Abby locked us all out of her bedroom so all their clothes were unatainable. :(

Catherine had to bring snacks for her and all her classmates today...so I had all 26 lil' baggies made up for her. She wanted to get out of the house and go to the mall this evening...but it's too late for that...so perhaps tomorrow we'll go to the fun park (the Imagination Station) or to the mall when it opens at 10 before her school starts.

I have lots of laundry to do still though, since I only got 2 loads done! Last week was crazy and I didn't keep on top of it! (I hate when I do that...or should I say "don't" do that!) :) LOL

Have you seen this yet? Check this out...especially if you blog! :) I'm working on my 43 things.

MOPS was great!

Thursday morning the girls and I went to check out a local MOPS group (Mothers of Preschoolers). It was awesome! The women were really nice (some more than others) too.

I got both girls into their little classrooms. I found where I needed to be (the church that this is held at is huge! They have a gym which is larger than the one at Catherine's school!

We had an ice-breaker game, then we played Bunco! Did you hear that?! Bunco! You know the game that I've said for the last 2 years that I've wanted to play!?! I couldn't believe it! I hope that's just a sign of things to come...meaning that this will be great! I hope it's worth the $ that I payed to join this group.
(Now I NEED to find a Bunco Group in our area...or start one!...I've got to play it again...it was so much fun!)

There will be a speaker next time then we'll do a craft. We were offered a great breakfast & coffees/teas. It was a wonderful morning!

...Today I had to go to Toy's R Us & Linens n' Things for gifts. I took Catherine to her birthday slumber party that she was invited too. I stayed, because they invited us to stay so that Abby could participate in the games/crafts/cake/opening gifts, etc... Then we headed home.

tomorrow morning we go pick KitCat back up...I'm hoping to stop in at an antique store that near their house (45 minutes away). So Bobby should come with me to keep me from buying way to much stuff! :) LOL

I've got a bridal shower for a friend of ours (her name is Heather too) :) I've got to do a streets & maps thing tonight to know where I'll be going tomorrow.

So far it's a great weekend....I hope yours is to!

Flowers for his 3 girls

My husband is the best, and here's one more thing to prove it! :)

He came home with 3 dozen little roses for his 3 girls! :) How sweet is that?!

I love getting flowers for no reason, just because he loves me. This was extra special because he gave our 2 beautiful girls their own dozen roses. So special! They loved them! They smiled from ear to ear, and gave Daddy big o'kisses! :)

I love fresh flowers in the home. No silk flowers in my house!

I felt so un-deserving though. Yesterday, I was out of the house all morning/afternoon helping a friend run errands (they only have 1 vehichle and her husband had to have it, and she couldn't cancel her appointments, so I was glad to be able to help her out), then when I got home I didn't feel good, so I didn't have dinner made, and we ordered chinese.

Today I was supposed to go grocery shopping, but just couldn't...so it didn't get done. (Maybe tomorrow?) I was cleaning the kitchen when he came home. He got home early today, because he went into the office like at 5 this morning!

Tomorrow I'm going to MOPs (Mothers of Preschoolers), then I'll get Catherine off to school. Then I can go grocery shopping. Back home to unload and get Catherine off the bus. Then we need to go get a birthday present (Catherine's invited to a slumber birthday party) and a wedding present (one of the girls I used to teach in teen group is getting married - her bridal shower is this Saturday). If I have time I'll come up with some type of scrapbook gift. We'll see, this is a crazy busy week.

For now, I'm enjoying all these beautiful flowers in my home, that my wonderful husband brought home for his 3 girls! :)

Annv. of September 11th

Do you remember where you were 4 years ago?
I remember, and I'll never forget.

What a horrible & tragic day. I still pray for the families that lost loved ones. It still breaks my heart when I think about it.

When I see the photos, it makes me sick to my stomach. It brings me back where I was 4 years ago.

I was in my car driving to my office to make copies of the papers that we signed to buy our first house, when the news interrupted and said that a plane just hit one of the towers of the World Trade Center. I thought that it was terrible, but I had no idea just how terrible it was or what was about to happen next. I only thought it was small plane that accidentally hit the tower.

I went into the office, made copies, said hi to my co-workers, we chatted about the plane hitting the WTC. I left there to go drop off the signed papers to the realtors office.

I tried calling my husband with my cell phone, and all the circuits were busy, I couldn't get ahold of him. I went home, called from the house and got ahold of him. He was busy because of were he worked, but we finally got ahold of each other. :)

I sat glued infront of the tv for the rest of the day. I was so thankful that Catherine was so young that she had no idea what was going on. I had to call my family and talk with them, I just had to hear their voices. Two of my sisters were visiting with me that weekend before. Tammy had flown in, and just traveled home the day before. I was so glad to hear she was safe.

-------------------
Today we had friends over for a BBQ. There 13 of us in all, and we all had a good day of eating, teasing, talking and just hanging out. Our company didn't leave until late, so I guess everyone had a great time! :)

Monday night we have our first PTO meeting at Catherine's school, it's in conjunction with the family picnic. :) More on the later!

My Gym

Today we went to "My Gym" for their 3rd year Annv celebration Open House.
With bringing in the advertisement that was mailed to me, I got a free lifetime membership for the girls to come in and play once a week, and other little benifets. We enjoyed free Brusters Ice Cream, the girls got a balloon, and played in their gym.

They had so much fun! Our girls are little monkeys!

I signed them up for a sibling class. Once I got home I realized that it's on the same day as MOPS, which I plan on attending this year.
So I have to remember to call and reschedule their gymnastics for another day.

They have a parents night out once a month, where for 3 1/2 hours they watch and etertain your children so you can go out! How cool is that? It's only $45 for our 2, which really isn't that bad when you conisder they'll be playing, having a snack, doing a craft, have story time, singing & dancing, etc... :)

We didn't paint the living room since I figured it was too much work before our dinner party tomorrow after church...so hopefully on Monday I'll get it painted! I'll update when it's done! I'll also share the before/after pictures! :)

I hope your having a great weekend everyone!

Sidenote:
I took one of those pop up IQ tests and here's what it said when I was done:

Congratulations, Heather!Your IQ score is 122

This number is based on a scientific formula that compares how many questions you answered correctly on the Classic IQ Test relative to others. Your Intellectual Type is Insightful Linguist. This means you are highly intelligent and have the natural fluency of a writer and the visual and spatial strengths of an artist. Those skills contribute to your creative and expressive mind. And that's just some of what we know about you from your test results.

So in otherwords...they're politly saying that I suck at math! :) LOL!!! :)

Wearing a Tiara

Okay, so every GirlyGirl has got to have a Tiara right?! Right! I've always loved them, I wanted one to wear on my wedding day. I wanted my baby girl to have one (and my sister Tammy sent Catherine her first Tiara way before Catherine had enough hair to even wear it - it had a hair comb built into it.)

After reading Andie's blog I realized, I needed my own Tiara. :) I think I need to go and buy myself one. As I was tucking my two little princesses in bed tonight I spied Abby's little dress up crown lying on the floor. I grabbed it, placed it on my head and proceded to do our whole bedtime routine. The girls thought I was so funny!

Once I make my way downstairs, Bobby, my lovely husband laughs at me! Well, I'll show him! I grab out my trusty little kodak digital and start snapping away. So much so that my eyes hurt from the flash! It's hard work trying to take your own picture! :) LOL

I'll share a little bit of my silliness with you! :) I hope it makes you smile! I am going to see if the magic of tiara wearing makes cleaning the house easier! :) I think I needed this around 4 when I was cleaning the bathroom! :)

You know, this is so pathetic that I'm actually posting this, but you know what? Sometimes you just have to do something silly that makes you smile! :) I think the only reason this is actually making it into a post is because it's 1:30am. Oh well!

Here comes the weekend!

My new 1280x800 wallpaper for my desktop. The left side is blank intentionally so I can see my icons easily. I used Rhonna Farra's April set from 2Peas (& Feb's Cherish overlay), and silly birdnut's ribbon border.

This weekend is a full one. I've got to go grocery shopping today for a dinner party we're having on Sunday. Saturday we're going to finish putting up trim molding and paint the living room.

I guess I should take a few "before" pictures...I've already rearranged the room to the way it will be set up for awhile.

Also on Saturday I want to take the girls to My Gym for their anniversary celebration. Catherine took gymnastics last year and really loved it. I'll see what they have to offer. They have a parents night out once a month, which sounds really great. I'll have to see what the price is though.

We're planning on buying a hybrid car for our next vehicle purchase (especially now with the prices of gas!) so I need to keep that in mind. We're trying to cut back on some spending...so it's a balance! :)

Now, I've got to get my grocery list ready!

Camping Trip in Delaware

We canoed, hiked, fished (not me), ate, played games, collected nature, visited with our friends that we went up with. We enjoyed camp fires, roasted marshmallows & s'mores. It was a great trip.
I however was about carried away by all the mosquitoes. The girls had maybe 10 bug bites...I had over 70 bites on just 1 leg...no kidding...I actually counted them!

Camping at Trap Pond, DE

Bobby taking the girls out in the canoe for a small fishing trip.

My 3 most favorite people!

We stayed in a Yurt for the first time. (Look, it has air conditioning!) It had a bunk bed & futon, we set up our folding table and it was just perfect!

It had an L-shaped deck, off of that was the picnic table, fire ring & Adirondack chairs right on the waterfront. Gorgeous views!!!!

We were just steps away from the water. This was a beautiful place to stay, there were Cyprus trees all over the place.

Just moments after we arrived, the girls starting lining up pine cones on the ledge/railing.

Watch out though....pine cones falling from that high up...hurt when they land! :)

We normally don't bring "toys" on camping trips..but we had to stop at a store to pick up a few things, and gave in to the girls when they asked for new Crayola's & Barbie coloring books. :) Bobby read his book Creation, and I picked up Nicholas Sparks book The Wedding, but I never read it. I ended up picking up a Word Search book, and that kept me entertained! :) I stuck it in the camping totes, for the next trip! :)

The girls had to so much fun! They were so dirty, black feet every night! :) They had fun playing with their friends and going back and forth from our campsite to theirs.

The price of gas was high, and with the car loaded down with all the camping gear made it worse. We didn't have it as bad as our friends, who were pulling their pop-up and 4 canoes! Ouch!

Fun links ...shopping

Just for fun.....10 things I really like and/or want :)

  1. Dining Table & Chairs I'd love that dining room table. Right now we have a nice oak with a butterfly leaf...but a round table would work better in our space.
  2. Pretty File Folders I have some Mary Engelbreit file folders...I love these too!
  3. Mini chest Of course I'd alter it and make it pretty!
  4. Toile Fabric I've got some red....planning on getting some in black for the downstairs bathroom.
  5. Basic Grey paper Can you believe I still haven't gotten 1 single sheet of this yet? When I placed my Birthday order, they were all out of it! :(
  6. Message Center I want something like this (in white) to hold all the school info/mail, etc... Great way to keep things accessible and yet looking good!
  7. Canvas Laundry basket I've got collapsible hampers...but this is just so cool & funky I think I need this too!
  8. Ribbon Who doesn't love ribbon?!
  9. Eiffel tower replica Yep, my Paris bathroom wouldn't be complete without one!
  10. Pink mixing bowls I've got a million mixing bowls but I don't have pink ceramic ones!
