VBS the last few days...

I've taken Catherine to VBS (Vacation Bible School) it's from 9am till noon. She's had a blast so far and having a great time with her friends, and seeing some old friends that she meet at a VBS at another church last summer! ;) Looks like I'm not the only mom to VBS hop! :)

On Monday, when we were standing in line to get her name tag and all, Catherine looks around and see's there aren't many parents standing with the kids then looks over at me, curls her finger to motion me to move in closer so she can whisper something. I wasn't sure what she was going to say, but I certainly didn't expect to here what she did say that's for sure. She said "Mom, you're kind of embarrasing me!" what? When did this happen, she's only 5, we weren't supposed to go thru this for another few years! Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I've had fun just being out and about with just Abby. It's so much easier with just 1 kid in tow rather than 2. I've gone out with friends for breakfast the last couple mornings. That's been nice too!

I hope everyone's having a great summer!

Busy days I tell ya!

We have been so busy...just normal good stuff though! :) The good kind of busy! :)

We've gone to pools, picnics, lakes & parties, played outside, played inside, visited with friends, etc...

I've created a little mini album to hold drink recipes :) That was a fun little project! :) I did it digitally, then had them printed at Wal-Mart and slid them down into a little 4x6 photo album (so that spills can be wiped off and the album won't be ruined! :) Yah for me! :) LOL (using Shabby Princess & scanned in some Mod Papers - then modified them slightly) Drinks clipart web-freebie, SM flower brush

Front, Back, Divider Page (1 of several) & Tabs

There are divider pages for drinks on the rocks, frozen drinks, non-alcholic, etc... I'll use page tabs if needed too :)

For the last 2 days the weather has been so beautiful! I've even turned off the air and thrown open all the windows! I love having fresh air in the house! Even more, I love not having hot & humid days! :) LOL

As busy as I've been playing with the girls lately, I've negleted our house. It makes me feel terrible. I hate not having the house in order. Last night I dreamed that there was a terrible accident that caused family & friends over, and even with all the drama of everything I was embarrassed over my house. So I guess my sub-conscious is telling me, to do something about it! :)

We're going to visit my husbands family next month for a week. We're surprising his mom (his dad & sisters know we're coming in though) not my idea, that's my DH's. I would have rather surprised his dad...since you all know how us women are...we like to have things planned! :) LOL Oh well, she'll be pleased and so excited. We haven't seen them since Christmas 2003.
We haven't told the girls yet either...we'll wait till the last minute 1) to help keep the surprise and 2) so we don't have to hear "how many more days, when are we leaving?" etc... :)

Let's see....at my last annual dentist appointment, my dentist told me that I needed to have 2 wisdom teeth removed. Ugh, I'm 27 and have gotten away with keeping them this far...but one has broken through my gums...and that's just asking for trouble he says. So...looks like I've got some calls to make, and will be getting them out here sooner or later! :)

Cross that off the list!

While Bobby was in Florida for a week, I got at least 1 project done! :) I painted the one wall I wanted red (it's the wall leading upstairs), eventually the rest of the living room will be painted a taupe/khaki/tan color. That green color will be replaced with brown, once I select the right shade. I'm hoping to get our carpet cleaned....so after we remove the furniture, and before the carpets cleaned, I want to paint the walls. - Sometime this summer it will be done with any luck! :) Oh, and putting moulding up around the closet door & adding crown moulding! :)

Info on new banner...

The new banner has papers by Lindsay Riches, bookplate, brad & ribbon by Shabby princess, Buckle Ribbon by Dani Brath. Blue Paper behind bookplate is my creation. I brightened the photo of me in PSP for a more artsy feel. :) Oh and the font is MA Sexy (loving that font!)
I don't know who create the brown paper (the one just under my picture)...I don't know who to give credit for it. sorry.

I think that I'll try and come up with a few banners and rotate through them. :) It's fun. I'll have to figure out which is the best size..the sizing on this one is off. Oh well! :)

Movies & Soundtrack CJ

Catherine, Abby & I went to the movies and watched Madagascar! :) There was a little humur in there that's not meant for kids, but the girls are young enough, they didn't catch it. :) It was a cute movie. I was suprised that the tickets for all of us was $6 a piece, I thought the matinea was supposed to be cheaper - and childs tickets too. Oh well, we enjoyed ourselves, so it was worth it. :)

The next movie I'd like to see is to go out with a few "girls" and see the sisterhood of the traveling pants....sounds like a good chick flick! :)

______________________________________________

So, tonight I worked on making my list to go into Paula's CJ. Her Circle Journal is "The soundtrack of my life". It's a great CJ and really neat seeing what everyone has done in it. It was neat to really just take a few hours and really reflect upon some of the songs that have made an inpact on my life. Here's what I've come up with so far...I might add a few more, If I realize I've negleted an important one. :)

Soundtrack of my life

  • Somewhere over the rainbow, Judy Garland

  • Me & Little Andy by Dolly Parton
  • Amazing Grace

  • Away in a Manger & Silent Night

  • Everything I do by Bryan Adamson

  • One more try by Timmy T.

  • The Power of Love by Celine Dion

  • The Lady in Red by Chris DeBurgh

  • I Will Be Here by Stephen Curtis Chapman

  • Somewhere out there by James Ingram
  • Going to the Chapel by Bette Midler

  • Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle

  • Hush Little Baby

  • I Can Only Imagine by Mercy Me
  • You Raise Me Up by Selah
So, that's my list. I've also written out what each song means, or why it's special to me. You'll be able to see once I create it, and post it on 2Peas! :)

Key Lime Pie

Last week, I made a Key Lime Pie....it was soooo good! It is rich & creamy, almost like a cheese cake. I don't have whip cream on the top here, but you can add it. You can also serve this with fresh strawberries, they taste great with each other.

Key Lime Pie

1/2 c. key lime juice, freshly squeezed
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 (8 oz.) tub Cool Whip whipped topping
1 ready-crust graham cracker pie crust
___________________________
Cream the cream cheese, add can of condensed milk and whip, whip, whip and whip again. Add half of the cool whip and the lime juice and whip, whip, whip. The more beating, the better the pie. Pour into graham cracker crust and top with remaining cool whip if desired.
Note: You may tint the mixture to a light green color with green food coloring.
You may substitute fresh limes with the bottled lime juice (use the entire bottle of squeeze lime).

My sister Tammy is one of the best cooks I know (she makes the best desserts in the world!). Our nephew Aaron almost always requests her Key Lime Pie when we all get together (that and Macadamia Nut Cookies).

Girls on Memorial Day...all decked out in their "sparkle crowns" as they called them!

An old Radio Flyer wagon we found :) Isn't it great?! I Love it!

This was taken last month, it was the first (of many, I'm sure) treat from Rita's Italian Ice & Gelati. You have to love those colored tongues you get afterwards too! ;)

Friday Five; Childhood Revisited....

Here are the Friday Five's question for today June 3rd... (take and put them on your blog and answer them too!) :)

* What things did you enjoy as a child that you no longer do? Swinging on our old tree swing...it was the absolute best!!!
* What things did you enjoy as a child that you still do today? Eat ice cream! :) Occasionally play in the rain (with the girls of course)
* What things do you do now, that the child you were never thought you'd like? Some of the food I'll eat now and enjoy...it practically killed me to eat it when I was young! :) Brocolli, Spinache, etc.. ;) I still won't eat lima beans & brussel sprouts though! :) LOL
* If you could go back to one age and stay there for a while, what would it be? 5 years old, I have some great memories of being young...my sisters and I played forever and the summer days just never seemed to end!
* If you could fast forward to an age (you do get to come back!) for a while, what would it be? 50, so that I can see and play with whatever grandchildren I'll have. :)

Hubby's Birthday

So my husband is turning a year older this Saturday. The same day he'll be flying out to sunny Florida to Orlando...I'm so jealous! Anyways, he's turning 29, his last year in his twenties...wow we're getting old! (It was 10 years ago this weekend that I graduated high school...ugh)

The girls choose gifts for their daddy, "fun" toys for him to take to the office and fiddle with while he's problem solving/trouble shooting the next melt down! :) This past weekend we went to Bass Pro Shops (this would be my equivalent to a great LSS), he picked up a few things. We found a few really cool novelty items. We got one for DH and one each for his dad for Father's day. They're both over-grown little boys! :) LOL The one gift, is a bug zapper that's just like a tennis racket. He has hours of enjoyment killing mosquitoes, spiders and all kinds of bugs!

I did make a "crafty" gift...I fixed up a snack can for him to keep on his desk at work, it's filled with pistachio nuts. :)

Fresh look

This morning, I finally played around in PSP and made a tag to add to my signature over at 2Peas. I used Shabby Princess' stuff, made my own "h" fabric label. The font is MA Sexy.

I had fun with it, nothing to exciting, but it's something. I also changed my profile picture to a picture of me, instead of the picture of Catherine.

I loved that picture I took of Catherine. She was just a baby, and I was doing one of the thousands of photo shoots I did with her. This photo is actually published in an amateur photography book too, which I'm really proud of! :) I wish I had the money to buy the book when it came out...I've never seen it in print! :( The book was $75 with the pre-order price discount! Ouch! I'm trying to find a link to the book, but can't even find it...I'll keep working on that! :) I'll update if I find it!

Long day today

I had an appointment this morning at 10am to get our car's state inspection & emissions test done today. What should have cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $50 cost me almost 10 times that! Ugh.....Darn brakes!

The thing that really bugs me is that they try to make you spend more than what you need done. Don't ever take what they tell you you need at face value. Ask questions, really dig in to find out what's really going on. I seem to always get the guys that think that they can take advantage of me {a woman}. I hate taking the car in for anything...I'd much rather my husband do it.

Since I had both girls with me, we walked to Wal-Mart shopped there for an hour (this was when I got the call that the brakes needed work). We walk back to the garage to discuss the issue. Issue settled. We walk to A.C. Moores (We need to kill 2 hours...okay that's easy enough to do at A.C. M's but the hard thing will not be coming out of there with a ton of scrapbook items.) and managed to spend the entire 2 hours there...I thought we might hit other stores in the strip but oh well! :) LOL

We walk back to the garage it's now after 1:30 so by 2 we're on our way to McDonald's (a treat for the girls since they were so good). We drove to the special one with the large indoor playground. Once we're out of the car and up to McD's we see a sign that the playland is closed for cleaning (bummer!). That's good to know that it does get cleaned though! So, we eat, then head off to the playground/park since I had promised they could slide. The weather is just beautiful today, so pleasant. They had fun playing, but it was finally time to leave, off to Blockbuster where I return a few movies (the drop off box outside is great, so you don't have to go inside...but they have a trash can right there...I fear that one day I'm going to be in a hurry and not thinking, I'll slip the DVD's in the trashcan slot not the return slot! I'm that "blonde" somedays I tell ya!) that were due on Monday (thank goodness to the end of late fees....I love you Blockbuster!). Then I finally get to head home where I tell the girls that I plan on taking a nap! I'm so tired from walking in the sun all morning/afternoon and just walking around for over 3 hours.

We get home, and to my surprise there's a package! :) Oh I love packages! I knew what it was the moment I saw it...another round for my Circle Journal. There went the plans for a nap! I had to devour that little gem! :) It's Paula's CJ - The soundtrack of my life. So I'll have to figure out which songs will be listed for my playlist...and hopefully I can get them all gathered up and put on a cd...we'll have to see about that. :)

So, what's for dinner? We'll I'm cheating...no home cooked meals tonight...It's a frozen Stouffers Lasagna & Coles Garlic Bread, with a salad! Easy enough and good tasting! :)

I don't know why...but I really write out lengthy posts....sorry about that, I'll try and make them shorter.
